Great progression opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with PQS or contractor experience to broaden their experience whilst working on a range of project sectors from Residential to Education and Housing to Healthcare.

Working across a variety of project sectors they are now recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their busy offices in Canterbury, Kent.

Person Specification:

  • The successful applicant will hold a RICS accredited degree or equivalent
  • You will ideally have pre and post-contract experience across a range of project types
  • Due to the varied nature of our clients’ workload, the ideal candidate will have an all-round knowledge of Quantity Surveying rather than specialising in any one area

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of JCT & NEC contracts
  • Detailed knowledge of SMM7 and NRM2
  • The ability to produce full detail Bill of Quantities and full detailed and accurate cost plans quickly and accurately to stringent timescales.
  • Attribute the form of contract, conditions and obligations to be imposed on the contractors and material suppliers.
  • Responsible for contractual negotiation and subsequent engagement on site with contractors ensuring that safety, budget, quality and programme requirements on the project are achieved.
  • The ability to keep up to speed with final account forecasts and deal with day to day changes and has the ability to know the project ‘inside out’ to capture all additions and omissions to ensure the clients budget is met.
  • To carry out the negotiation of final accounts.
  • The ability to adapt to suit differing clients requirements.
  • Responsible for the clients key documents for commercial control.
  • Provide construction cost advice as may be required for the Commission.
  • Manage direct reports as required to ensure service provision as required

Salary & Package:

Our client offers a salary of £30,000 – £35,000 dependant on experience.
